Just going to write about some of the more recent accusations flung at me.

I’ve always found it funny how much is assumed of me. Granted it’s not someone’s fault for assuming the worst, or best, but some things just aren’t what they seem.

You don’t play this game.

This is always one of my favorites. Simply because I don’t have an issue similar to any one individual I must not be playing the game. Really? Come on, people can’t be this far-fetched. I have bad games too and yes I run into lag occasionally. I even rage at scenarios where I feel the game is either improperly balanced or unfair. My opinions, like yours, are subjective though. My perfect game isn’t your perfect game.

I’ve also logged in wayyy too many hours of Call of Duty. According to Raptr I’ve logged in a collective 2,587 hours of Call of Duty time. Granted I might not be there for all 2.5k hours, but my Xbox is reporting that much time. That’s 107 days of Call of Duty. This isn’t even including the time before I had Raptr or the betas for World at War and Call of Duty 4. Crazy!

You support boosters, cheating, and ne’er-do-wells!

Completely and utterly untrue. I’m a moderator. I ban people and remove “bad” posts all the time. There’s no way that I can support people breaking any Terms of Use or End-user License Agreement. Cheaters suck. Boosters suck. Hackers suck. Do I want people to name n’ shame them? Yes. Can I let that happen on a forum? No. Why? Because most people don’t have definitive proof. You want us to believe that Little Johnny was boosting, but you don’t have proof? No way. Oh, you have proof? Cool! Now you want us to mass report and spam the guy? No. Why? Because spamming people and harassing them is a violation of the Terms of Use in the service that we would spam them. Yeah, that’s why I don’t allow it. I don’t want anyone to get in trouble for a dumb reason. They’ve already ruined your gaming experience. Don’t let them trash it because you need to get your words in. Report them and keep on truckin’.

You’re a moderator. You need to voice our opinions.

This too is another of my favorites. It’s actually rather flattering. I’m happy that a community wants me to voice their issues for them and trust that I can do it properly. The reason why I won’t though has to do with this current generation.

It is my personal belief that an oligarchy exists. I’m not pointing fingers, but some people in the world of social media gaming have far too much influence. That power eventually falls from who they represent to what they want or their personal agenda. That’s bad. That’s really, really bad. This doesn’t happen all the time or with every social media leader, but I’ve seen it first hand. The power and influence should instead rest with the many. The community must work in unison to decide the best form of action for it and move forward with that. That’s why I always encourage individuals to speak up and work with their peers. Sure I’m entrusted with leading a portion of the community in some ways, but my opinions on a perfect game are not yours. Yours are not mine, and sacrificing either of our opinions and masking it as the collective opinion is a great disservice. Do it yourselves, because only you can. You are part of the community and the community has the power.

Did I also mention that I am the forum terrorist that takes away your First Amendment rights? Because the Internet is the United States, amiright? Merry Christmas to everyone.

Holiday Retail was an experience. My managers, co-workers and I made Christmas happen for a lot of people. I’ve seen some ups, some downs and even some tears. Time for another bullet point run-down.

My co-worker/manager Zane and I can rip a line in half.
Chinese food is cheap, fast and delicious.
Kinect sold crazy-stupid this holiday.
Apparently I sound really Hispanic. (srsly)
Monster was necessary to function.
It’s all about keeping it simple.
Having someone there for you makes a world of a difference.

Tomorrow I feel will be the last hectic day. Post Christmas returns will be all that is left I suppose.

Fourth Quarter - Let's do this!

So…here we are? It’s October, may not be the first, but it is essentially early October. This is when the war drums start blaring, right? I guess so. Since we’re all gamers, or at least most of you are, we know that October, November and December are THE months to game. We’ll have our awesome games launch and then there will be noobs-a-plenty!

Unfortunately, I don’t have my PS3. Lets just say that all of the money I had went toward things I needed to keep my current gaming in check and up to snuff. Winter will be my PS3 acquisition. It will happen. I won’t allow myself to put it toward anything else unless it is absolutely necessary. Regardless I have my Wii and my Xbox 360. Still though, I respect each platform for what they do. Each has an up and a down. Sometimes they have multiple ups and downs, but tell you what I could pick one up and find something fun to do. The Wii has been somewhat ignored. I’ll be gameflying quite a few games that my friend Lamar has shown me. *No, Lamar. I have not youtubed them yet.* There are quite a few I can’t wait to try. Silent Hill looks like fun. I’m sure I’ll shat myself. I look forward to the fun adventures that await. It’ll be a change in pace and those are always needed. This will happen of course after two events though.

The first event? Fallout: New Vegas. This is next Tuesday hurray! I can’t wait to immerse myself into that soon to be epic storyline. I’ve had a hankering, yes Schauna a hankering, to obliterate some raiders. Then again, I might just get my ass handed to me by a radroach…kinda like that mudcrab whooped my ass in Oblivion and Morrowind. Regardless it will be fun. I’ll be having Fallout dreams for a few weeks.

The second event? Black Ops, hah, you should have known that. I can’t wait to play this game. I’ve been replaying the MP event over and over again in my mind and have been taking it all in. I know what weapons I’ll use immediately and which ones seemed interesting. The SP trailer that aired yesterday was a blast. Reznov is such a bad ass. I love the Russian COD characters, and I am sure he will deliver. Woods is a crazy son’bitch from everything I have seen. One of the few American characters from COD that I actually respect and appreciate upon initial impressions. Sorry, Roebuck and Sullivan didn’t cut it for me. Either way this game is shaping up to be a hit. It’s been a privilege to be embedded in the community and help out.The experience has truly been a learning one. I am sure it will continue to be so. More and more I find myself identifying the ethnocentric values of gamers today, however. I wish I could change that, bu its obviously not my place though. I drop logic and information when I can. Call me an idealist, but people should learn on their own how to form educated opinions. Regardless, I do believe I have found a shooter to catch my eye and my palette for quite a while. Can’t wait to jump into MP again!

Remember the 1st of September…. You know when I first read that tweet from Josh Olin I thought it was simply a play on the old rhyme. I didn’t fully understand the significance which that line was about to inherit.

*Clearly, most of you have read my tweets so I will keep this like a typical blog of mine. Short and sweet.*

When I sat down to play I was told to enter create a class and this is exactly where the night went from “Ok this is the next COD game” to “holy shit that is awesome!” You pick up any COD presently and you know exactly what to do. You find the create a class system eerily similar and you jump right in. Quite a redundant approach if you ask me. Sure a few changes may be present but absolutely nothing like the CAC feature of Black Ops. You open up and you can immediately see the COD Points cost of weapons and much more. You finish gawking at your choices, you make your class, the pit bosses declare a game of TDM and you are thrown into a game. Upon initial attempt to dropshot, yes I know I am a dirty dropshotter, I go flying forward. An interesting feeling and I get killed. The reaction/recovery time felt immediately right. Adjusting my controls I get the feel for the game immediately, you know this is Call of Duty but it certainly has a different air about it.

Grenade rolls toward you? Dive off the ledge to cover.

Need another set of eyes? Drop a camera spike.

Talk about opening up a mix of new tactics. Most importantly? “Fuck I dropped my claymore wrong.” *Hold X to pick up* “WTF SERIOUSLY!” *Proceeds to drop and pick up multiple times as the female overseer laughs at me doing so.* The game feels like a series of logical improvements. Ever played a game of COD and thought to yourself “X should be implemented so I can Y and avoid/advance on Z?” This game will more than likely do that for you. Not only do it, but do so logically and magnificently. The night ensued and if you need to you can check my tweets but I will put some highlights right here.

- Shotguns act like shotguns. Heavy power, limited range.

- Tactical Insertions are back. Get over boosting/cheating please as it is inevitable. Identify. Report. Success.

- ADS at an objective symbol and it is gone. Goodbye people hiding/taking advantage of the issue.

- RC-XD feels awesome. Not overpowered as the kill radius isn’t gratuitously large!

- The MP5k is a mean bitch!

- No Stopping Power/Juggernaut

- Emblem editor is amazing. *So making a Mexican flag.*

- Overall feel of the game is nothing like Modern Warfare 2. The only real similarities are the inevitable. Graphics and guns. The rest is new, fresh and popping. This is all for now. Trust me, words alone can not prepare you for this game. It will be awesome.

So the trailer finally came out! The forums were on fire today to say the least. Lots of cheers, a few moans and quite a bit of tension. Regardless there is new content to discuss.

Honestly the game looks great in my opinion. I realize this is but a mere 85 seconds of game-play, but it is promising. Very promising indeed. Rather than just go in depth I am going to do another short blog. A list of points again.

1. This isn’t MW2 1.5 IMO.
2. Holy crap is that a FAMAS! It looks so sexy!
3. Ballistic knife? Hmm could be a problem.
4. Sexy Sniper Rifle!
5. LOL Vahn pwning Matt
6. RC4 Car?
7. Video recording? My fail can now be captured without a card? YES.

So much more I want to discuss, but ehh this will do. Vahn, Matt and any other staff that may or may not read this. Good job dudes.

Dude, it is August 2nd! How things have changed this summer.

So, the Summer months have wound down but they were great. Headed out to California, endured quite a bit of drama and played the hell out of some games.

The Recap

Looking back on it all that was such a kick ass time. Walking around Santa Monica, taking in the atmosphere and enjoying conversation and some good fun with fellow gamers. Each from a different walk of life, but still awesome in many ways. Made a lot of good friends on that trip, some of whom will be for the long run. The only adverse effects of that trip was the issue of coming back to my small city and realizing how much different it is. Oh well, this place is my home and in the end I will always return.

Gaming went good this summer. Had a lot of good games on Modern Warfare 2 and definitely rocked the house in Halo Wars, but I managed to play a few “new” games. Limbo, what a damn amazing game. Short as hell, but every puzzle was fun. Ok, maybe I threw my controller at one point, sorry chica, but I still managed to get through it with a bit of help from Olin. Played the hell out of Lego Harry Potter, yes I know, and got some good achievements out of it. Now I am finishing up Alan Wake which seriously creeps me out. Not scares, but definitely creeps me out. That will be the last game I gamefly this summer and I will be canceling the service. I need to focus on school and getting back into my rhythm. No more 1pm-4am, I need to get to 8am-12am and get there fast.

Things were great, and this fall will be ten times better.
